Microsoft Gives Up on Yahoo Takeover
Published May 3rd, 2008 in Off TopicMicrosoft backed out from acquiring Yahoo, taking a back seat to internet search at number three once again. With all the money and technology prowess from its engineers, MSN has never been able to fix their search platform to perform better indexing, remove duplicate content, nor fix multiple sub-domain issues. Thus these are some of the main reasons why it will be forever playing catch up with its search platform. Remember how hyped up Live search was before its release into the public? Well, when was the last time it managed to return half usable and decent search results?
I don’t recall ever clicking on a MSN search result ever unless Google nor Yahoo was able to deliver on something relevant (which means there’s hardly any search inventory to attract advertisers to its AdCenter platform). MSN search has been a letdown since day one, and every time I make suggestions on removing some of the spam content, it always goes unanswered. Oh well, so much for Microsoft trying to take a stab at re-establishing itself as an internet worthy company. The internet will continue to grow, just not with Microsoft owned properties taking the lead.
