Notice how Google news carries no AdWords advertising? Because advertisers would be pissed off if news readers were clicking on their AdWords with no intention of buying products. Remember the success of AdWords relies on the high levels of successful conversions on every click.

Last week, Google committed the faux pas of returning an extremely negative headline within its natural search results on a keyword with lots of advertising competition. For any advertiser with any kind of money targeting consumers who search by these keywords, it is devastating to see the drop in sales due to these negative news headlines in the search results.

It can be pretty safe to make the assumption that Google AdWords revenue dropped at least 90% for that particular search term because people were in no mood to buy the product after reading the negative headline. This comes back to the reason if Google news does not carry AdWords advertising, then it works vice versa that news results should not be displayed in search results that generated advertising dollars.
