i760 Gmail Setup

Been banging my head over setting up the Samsung i760 with Gmail and found a solution on the internet, no thanks to Gmail supplying the correct configuration. When all the settings are entered correctly as below, your i760 should work perfectly with your Gmail account.

i760

email address: “username@gmail.com
your name: “your name”
username: “username@gmail.com
password: “password”
account type: IMAP4
name: whatever you want
incoming mail: “imap.gmail.com:995″
outgoing mail: “smtp.gmail.com:465″
domain: -blank-

Both incoming and outgoing mail checked for requiring authentication. Don’t check using separate settings.Your i760 phone is all set to receive and send email via your Google Gmail account.

* Remember to enable IMAP Access in your Gmail settings for this to work.

You also have to make sure in your gmail “settings” you enable Imap, or else this won’t work.

    Thanks for the info though.

Thank you for the detailed and clear instructions

Hey guys, I just bought a i760 and have followed all the steps mentioned above including the change in gmail account

I am yet unable to send or receive messages

It attempts connecting…and then pops up an error
“Message cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your email account settings are correct. Then try to download Messages again”
