Beat Wikipedia on Google
Published May 17th, 2008 in Interesting SitesYes, it is very possible to beat Wikipedia on Google. For long lengths of time the Wikipedia entry that I had created for a particular keyword dominated the search engines, and my website has finally regained a higher position than the Wikipedia entry. May be Google is pulling the plug on driving so much search traffic to Wikipedia because certain search terms are not necessarily to the user’s best interest when they see Wikipedia every time they perform a search on Google. There’s a lot more useful information outside of Wikipedia.
The question you may be asking is how the hell did you beat Wikipedia? Was it a low search keyword? It a pretty competitive keyword where I know some advertisers are spending close to a monthly 6K-9K budget just on AdWords. The profit revenue should be easily within the 100K-200K range.

Well done, the current trend is for people just to pick the url that contains the search term and Google and Yahoo just push em straight up to the top, regardless of low quality content.
