HTML Sitemap vs XML Sitemap
Published March 20th, 2008 in SEOCreate static html sitemaps for Yahoo and MSN. Because these two search engines are a disgrace in utilizing XML sitemaps. It is truly amazing to watch the pages indexed number jump tremendously to at least 10 fold in both Yahoo and MSN once a simple unattractive sitemap is introduced similar to the about dot com spiderbites.
Now that more pages are indexed. The next step is to watch the click delivery by both Yahoo and MSN. There will be a certain level of correlation between pages indexed and natural search click delivery from the search engines in question.
Am happy to report that static sitemaps work better than any XML sitemap for Yahoo and MSN. There’s got to be a good reason why About.com maintains the ugly static sitemap even though these first tier engines were early adopters of the XML standard.
