Winword TOC Wrong Numbering

One of the hardest things ever encountered in Microsoft Word is TOC (table of contents feature). Try dealing with a document that already had a TOC built in, and imagine all the numbers were wrong even though it was hyperlinking to the correct sections of the document.

Through some luck with trial and error, you may find yourself at this document after pulling out whatever hair you have left. TOC Explained - pay particular attention to the last section on keyboard shortcuts, and you will get a eureka moment.

When the page numbering is wrong, you need to update the entire table of contents (not just the page numbers). You will see more sections than you need only to wonder why as if there was something wrong with the setup, but all that needs correcting is to delete all the lines in between that you don’t need for the TOC. Resize with a different size attribute and your TOC in Microsoft Word is fixed.
