One of the hardest things ever encountered in Microsoft Word is TOC (table of contents feature). Try dealing with a document that already had a TOC built in, and imagine all the numbers were wrong even though it was hyperlinking to the correct sections of the document.

When the page numbering is wrong, you need to update the entire table of contents (not just the page numbers). You will see more sections than you need only to wonder why as if there was something wrong with the setup, but all that needs correcting is to delete all the lines in between that you don’t need for the TOC.
