Joe Dresnok
Published January 28th, 2007 in Off TopicJoe is staying in North Korea at the end of the Sixty Minutes News story. Why shouldn’t he? The man is old and has failing health. In North Korea, he has all the proper medical care he needs until the last days of his life.
If Joe Dresnok comes back to America, he would face court martial and get thrown in jail. Even if he was pardoned of previous crimes, he would not have any private health care and would be left to fend for himself.
In short, Joe made a good life in North Korea for himself and his family. North Korea is the only place where he can die as a proud man instead of a military fugitive. There is nothing for him in America, and he’s not stupid.

One thing is right, Joe Dresnok is not stupid, but, he is one, a fugitive, a coward, and a traitor to his own country. That’s if he still accepts the fact, that he is still an American. When first reading on the article on Joe Dresnok, I was very inserted and curious, on how an America would stay this long in the communist country of North Korea. But as I continued to read on the article. The more and more I became disgusted with his beliefs, ideals, and deserting attitude. Running away is not the answer, Standing up and facing your problems is more honorable and than teaching English to enemy, Nor is smoking and drinking your life away. To my opinion, Joe Dresnok felled on the attempt of being a man. And with that type of attitude he was never close to being a Soldier. The comments he made were more than upsetting to me. So with that, I think I can speak for a great deal of America’s that might share my opinion. There is no reason for you to come back.
P.S. You have nothing to trade. You already lose what you had.
Phillipe, please get your facts straight. When Joe Dresnok left, there was no turning back. He made a choice and started a new life in North Korea simple as that, and in return he’s not doing any worst than if he lived in the United States. No, a great deal of America do not share your opinion as not everyone is institutionalize to believe in everything the current education system teaches.
