Golden Bridge Dim Sum
Published September 8th, 2007 in Off TopicHad dim sum with my grandmother and family at Golden Bridge on Bowery Chinatown earlier today. The food was a disaster. Three dishes in particular were not up to par, as if the dim sum chefs fell asleep in the kitchen.
Beef tripe - hard and chewy as a rock. Basically it was not cooked long enough for the meat to tenderize, nor for the flavor to sink into the meat. On every bite, I was hating it.
Sui mai - the meat squares with wonton wraps had a distinct taste that was hard to bear. Tasted like soap. It must have been the cilantro if there was any in it.
Phoenix claw - the ever famous chicken feet dish. Again it was not cook long enough for the dish to tenderize and flavor to sink in.
Restaurants should really have an internal taste tester before serving it to patrons, otherwise they are going to get bad reviews like this one.
