Today, I had an inside lesson on click bots and learned how destructive its attacks are that it is scary. It can literally drain your advertising budget in minutes if you are not careful. The webmaster who had a hard time fighting off these bots found out it was from a provider of a feed.

How ironic is this situation? Here you have a provider of ad feeds (a third party provider of direct feeds from either Yahoo or MSN or Google) sending over bots to click on their own ads on a unsuspecting webmaster’s site. As much as they are concerned, they are not in any ways associated with the bots because the feeds are being displayed on someone else’s website who subscribes to their feed.

They send the bots over to click on them, then punish the unsuspecting webmasters for click fraud while already pocketing the cut of advertiser dollars who are unfortunate enough to have advertisements on that particular feed which the bots are hitting.

I do not know how the major search engines fight click bots, but they are definitely real.
