The old concept of Work.com as a job search site did not make it. The internet is a tough business as the original idea of using the work.com domain to compete against monster.com and hotjobs.com failed. This is based on the information presented by the snapshots from archive.org, it proves the better domain name do not necessarily always win without the proper execution.

The new site as a how-to-guide for businesses will be better integrated to its parent company business.com in serving small business owners who already have their websites listed on the business.com site. Some content will be written by in-house experts, while the majority will be submitted by article writers. If you have business articles available, you may want to submit to work.com and build some strong backlinks.

Thank you for the mention of Work.com. You are correct in describing the recent history of the domain. We originally tried a job search engine, but found that it was not complimentary to our existing business.com audience of small business owners and decision makers who were more interested in hiring than looking for a job.

The new site is much more than a directory of articles. The Work.com How-to Guides are a new content form that combines the learning and editorial aspects of articles with the more action-oriented nature of a directory and search results. All guides are original content, created by business experts and entrepreneurs so if your readers are expert on a particular topic, they should visit www.work.com and comment on existing guides or write their own guides. It easy and rewarding.

Good job on keeping track of who’s blogging about work.com! It is refreshing to find business.com providing content in their new ventures.
