Got Featured on eSyndiCat.com

eSyndiCat recently added FatInfo.com to eSyndiCat’s portfolio of top websites. It is a nice list of directory websites powered by the eSyndiCat script that showcases the customized front-ends by their users. I am very excited about this and should get some nice traffic from being featured.

I first stumbled onto the eSyndiCat website back in February 2006 when directory scripts were all the rage. It was a fairly new script, and the website offered a fully functional free version and a paid professional version. Naturally downloaded the free version to test out on the GoDaddy host, and it worked with no problems. Played around with all the backend features and fell in love with how easy it was to customize the directory through CSS stylesheets editing, and template editing. No script is ever complete without a mod rewrite for SEO friendly URLs, and eSyndiCat met that requirement also. Another feature that stuck out is the directory visitors can add comments onto a website details’ page - this helps a directory build more unique content.

On the backend, the built-in tools made it easy to administer the Google Ads and new site submissions (love the website delete & ban features to combat directory spammers). Another nice feature is allowing site submissions to deep link with HTML hyperlinks in the text descriptions. Surprisingly only a few site submissions take advantage of this, which leads me to believe the individuals doing the submissions are not proficient in simple HTML nor are they the principal owners of the sites submitted.

After testing out the free version for 1-2 days, decided to buy the pro version for additional features and better forum support. If you are serious about building a good directory, paying for the script is a small investment compared to the amount of time you spend promoting your directory.

Download eSyndiCat to evaluate.
