Flushing Out Low Quality Sites
Published December 26th, 2006 in Directory TalkRecently there has been an influx of low quality sites, and it required more time to delete them or assign them to appropriate categories. To prevent further abuse of the directory because it is free and simple to submit, the text description minimum character requirement has been increase to two hundred characters. Those who choose not to provide a well written description of their websites will be deleted or banned. This may also get rid of some automatic submission programs that submit to the directory.
Moving forward, this directory will be flushing out a lot of low quality sites. Meaning sites that do not have an original logo or well done templates will be flushed out. Also if the sites submitted has a lot of keywords stuffed into their websites will be banned to prevent future resubmissions.
The directory reached five thousand accepted entries with two thousand banned entries. And hopefully with the increased character text requirements, the submissions will slow down a bit to allow some time to better re-categorize the directory structure to cut down the maximum listing per category while each listing get more weight towards search engine optimization. Also will upgrade the directory to offer some paid featured listings.
